I recently followed up on a search that I started 3 years ago, looking for information on my great-grandfather. I had heard from my grandpa that he suffered from a head injury and afterwards spent time at the State Hospital in Fergus Falls. Using that scant information, I tracked down the commitment papers for when he was admitted. The sheriff brought him in July of 1908 and stayed until June of 1909. He went home for a short time in November of 1908, accompanied by his wife and brother. Apparently he had become violent at times, and even threatened to kill his family. I was actually impressed that they were able to treat him, at least enough for him to be released to his family a year later. It was also amazing to hold in my hands the documents that were signed by my great-grandmother 100 years ago. Wow.
